Fan Story: Valencianismo made in Mareo
Football and, above all, Valencia CF are one of the motivations that Chus Ramón continues to have in his complicated life after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain and spinal cord neurones and causes loss of muscle control.
Despite being Asturian and Sporting GIjón fan, Eloy Olaya, Miguel Angel Angulo and David Villa made him fall in love with the club. A love to which other great footballers such as Mendieta, Illie or Claudio López also contributed.
On occasion of the visit to Gijón to face Real Sporting, the Valencia CF expedition gave Chus a nice surprise at the hotel, giving her the opportunity to meet some of his idols.
Almudena Ramón (Chus' sister): "I can say that today Valencia CF has given life to my brother. He has been addicted to football for as long as he can remember and he doesn't just watch matches, he likes to know about football.
For him, Valencia CF are a friendly team with whom he has a somewhat irrational emotional relationship with. But for people you admire and have been following, in some cases for years, to give you a hug and be able to talk to them about football is unthinkable.
